The Dornoch Castle Hotel’s very own Dornoch Distillery Company, created by owners Simon & Phil Thompson, has been operational since August 2016 and producing the Thompson Brothers Organic Gin whilst patiently waiting for their Old Style Whisky to mature. Dornoch Castle Hotel is one of a very limited number of U.K. hotels with a distillery on-site, a truly unique Highland escape!

“Just home for a lovely meal at the castle. Had the steak which was melt in the mouth. Chips & veg were piping hot and delicious. Staff very friendly and attentive – one waitress in particular very friendly and nothing was a hassle. Would recommend and visit again if I return to Dornoch”

“My husband wanted a truly Scottish place to stay when he planned our stop in Dornoch (for his golfing pleasure). This castle did not disappoint. Our room was deliciously old-fashioned with a big fireplace (fitted with a working wood stove, wood provided), 4-poster bed with warm, comfy bedding, big windows that open to a view of the town, and a desk area. The amenities were lovely, like complimentary sherry on the desk, champagne on ice in front of the fireplace, and big fluffy robes and towels.”

Really enjoyed our stay at the Dornoch Castle Hotel. This original castle in the heart of the city is all charm. The rooms are all VERY different as they are built in the original castle, we stayed in room 2 (Royal Dornoch) and it was great, 4 post bed, great bathroom, plenty of space!
