Enjoy the perfect wedding in a romantic idyll in the Highlands of Scotland
Dornoch Castle is set in the beautiful, historical town of Dornoch. The Castle is ideally situated directly opposite the inspiring 12th century Dornoch Cathedral made famous by Madonna in 2000. This dramatic Castle offers a cosy and personable venue for weddings.
Dornoch Castle lends itself particularly well to the Wedding 'House Party' atmosphere providing a cosy and intimate venue in the historical Royal Burgh of Dornoch and only an hour north of Inverness.
Dornoch Castle creates a wonderful backdrop for photographic opportunities, from our secluded walled garden, stone terrace and steps leading down to the gardens to an atmospheric shot in front of our roaring fires in the winter. And to enhance all this, Dornoch beach is a five minute walk away and lays itself well for a perfect natural backdrop whatever the weather!
We can cater for up to 90 guests in our Garden Restaurant, which opens out directly into our pretty walled gardens. For larger weddings (up to 150), we can attach a marquee directly on to this room to create a very large and interesting area. For small intimate gatherings we have our Terrace Lounge and this room is available for small ceremonies of up to 30 and for a private meal up to 10 persons.
Dornoch Castle offers complimentary Wedding Planning Services, provided by our expert in-house Wedding Planner. We invite our bride and groom to Dornoch Castle to meet and understand the detail and take in the atmosphere of the Castle.
We have a total of 24 ensuite bedrooms situated both within the oldest part of the castle and the modern extension. There is a breakdown of room types including standard, deluxe, four poster and our award-winning Old Courtrooom. We recommend that you book your immediate family into the rooms you wish and reception is then aware of availability for your remaining guests. A deposit is required for each reservation.
We have received many lovely letters and telephone calls from grateful guests. “The nicest wedding I have ever attended.” “The best food I have eaten at a wedding reception” are just two typical comments. Thank you all so very much for a truly wonderful Wedding party. Juliet commented to me as she and Michael left for their honeymoon: “I had hoped for a fairy tale wedding and I got one”.

WINTER WEDDINGS
Dornoch Castle is the idyllic autumn or winter Wedding choice. With roaring fires, comfortable lounge and whisky bar, this cosy setting makes an ideal choice for an alternative to the hustle and bustle of a summer Wedding. With the Cathedral a 2 minute walk across the road, the bride can indulge in a warm winter wedding wrap for her short walk to the Cathedral, led by our House Piper, before being piped back with all her guests to enjoy Dornoch Castle for the warmest of celebrations.
